Beowolf

To me Beowolf was a little boring to start off , but then i relized that the Anglo-Saxon religion is very big on lineage. Hrothgar was destined for a good and prospers life. he had a father and grandfather be great heroes , and protectors. So , as grain began the story he had a great life. But that when the inciting incident begins , Grendel. Grendel was the monster who was supposedly the monster who controlling and  was exiled with all evil beings including zombies, elves, and monsters. Grendel was the doom that hung over the kings head for it was unknown pain. Grendel attacks were cowardly in my eyes, because he had attacked this innocent joyful people , in the middle of the night while they were sleeping. He had killed 30 people and felt no regret. he had even laughed as if it meant nothing. as Grendel killed mercilessly , no one dared came into the mead-hall, so as the fear traveled so did the story of Grendel. soon the story hit Geats, and that where our hero enters the story.

Beowolf, the hero, had heard of the torture and pain of this people in Herot, and felt as thought he needed  to help this people. So he brought 14 of the bravest warriors and set sail to Herot. Beowolf in my eyes , had made ,himself a great hero for this fact alone. he had set out on a voyage to a unknown land to help innocent people that he did not know, to a almost a impossible mission to kill a monster who was almost invincible. So, as a god hero does , he got to the mead-hall determine to kill grendal and save these people. So, when Beowolf had got there in the morning , ready to fight but, he was informed that grendal only comes at night so Beowolf decided to wait. So, he waited , and waited , and waited , soon night came. Beowolf decided to plan a sneak attack , and take all his men to the mead-hall and sleep there for the so when grendal got there he wouldn't be the wiser. as the night went on , Grendal finally arrived, he had saw the men in the mead-hall in saw it as a easy dinner. So as grendal started of his usual activities , he started by picking up what he thought was a helpless , pathetic very dimwitted , and weak mortal. But, what he didnt't expect was Beowolf.

As Grendal was reaching for beowolf , beowolf got up and grabed him by his hand broke all his fingers. At, that very moment , grendal relized beowolf was not a force to be messed with. in this part of the story , beowolf really proves his strength , and courage, because as he grabs up this almost godlike cresture , he makes grendal terrified and makes him run home like a little toddler who got his candy tooken away by the playground bully. but as beowolf starts to fight grendal he cuts off grendal arm , at that very moment grendal saw his way out and ran! He ran towards his home , the great lake, for he saw he was going to die.

What i think is so amazing and interesting is that when Grendel's body was in the water , the WATER STARTED TO BOIL, and turn red from Grendel body and blood. because supposedly he was so evil and treacherous that his blood did that to the water. But after the warriors and Beowulf was sure he was dead , they started to celebrate their great victory over Grendel. they were happy about Grendel's death, there was people from all over to come to the kingdom to congratulate the king for such a great victory. When Beowulf to show the king that Grendel was dead it surprised me on how even thought he had defeated Grendel, Beowulf was so unsatisfied with what he did. He didn't feel like he had kill Grendel good enough, or made him be punished enough for what he did. but then he attitude changes in says almost like oh,well, he will get what he gets when the "Great Judgement".

That the thing about this story, why i don't like this story, because to me it seems like the original Anglo-Saxon way the story would have went another way in the story. Because to me the Anglo-Saxon belifs was interesting and just made everything interesting. the myths and super strength , god-like glow and the fact of mythical creatures , and magical swords and golden goblet , just spice up a story. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to knock christian beliefs, to each is his own , but put god in the story with monster , and creatures from the underworld, seems a little far fetched. but besides that , this story was a little catching because it has all its basics, action, death, and straight fight after fight with slight possibly of death. Even, saying that it was a good story just not a story for me.
